This study examines Hikayat Prang Sabi as a religious literary work that played a significant role in fostering collective consciousness and mobilizing Acehnese resistance against Dutch colonial rule. It aims to reveal the persuasive strategies employed by the author in integrating religious doctrine, the legitimacy of jihad, and socio-political narratives to construct the identity of Acehnese resistance. This research adopts a qualitative approach using historical and hermeneutic methods to analyze the manuscript's content within the socio-political context of colonial-era Aceh. The findings demonstrate that Hikayat Prang Sabi develops two interrelated persuasive dimensions: an essential dimension that reinforces jihad as a religious obligation, and an instrumental dimension that employs depictions of martyrdom, heavenly rewards, and emotionally evocative symbols to inspire participation in armed struggle. Furthermore, the manuscript strengthens the authority of the ulama, consolidates the relationship between religious scholars and society, and constructs Acehnese identity on the foundation of Islam. These findings confirm that Hikayat Prang Sabi is not merely a literary work but also an effective ideological instrument for social mobilization, collective identity formation, and the legitimization of anti-colonial resistance in Aceh.
