Abstract
This study examines the phenomenon of Indonesian consumer culture, which is increasingly influenced by modernization, digital media, and lifestyle changes, resulting in a shift in consumption ethics in social and economic life. This study focuses on the interpretation of Qur'anic verses regarding consumption, the prohibition of israf, and the principle of balance as the basis of contemporary Islamic economic ethics. The study aims to analyze the relevance of Qur'anic values to Indonesian consumer behavior and its contribution to strengthening Islamic economic law in the modern era. The method used is descriptive qualitative through a literature review approach by examining tafsir literature, Islamic economic law, scientific articles, and related academic sources. The results show that the Qur'an positions consumption as a moral activity that must be oriented towards welfare, justice, and social responsibility. This principle is relevant to be applied in addressing Indonesian consumer culture by strengthening spiritual awareness, controlling economic behavior, and optimizing the value of moderation in contemporary Islamic economic law. This research also confirms that the contextual interpretation approach is able to provide a more adaptive understanding of the dynamics of modern consumption without ignoring the basic principles of sharia, so that Qur'anic consumption ethics can be used as a normative guideline as well as a social solution for contemporary Indonesian society.
