Abstract
Community service activities in the form of assistance in eradicating illiteracy in children aim to provide guidance and assistance for children to be able to recognize the letters of the alphabet and be able to read and write correctly. The activity was carried out in Kp. Kemang RT. 03 RW. 10 Rengasjajar Village which was attended by 76 children from the residents of the Village. The implementation method was in the form of socialization, guidance and assistance. Evaluation of activities was carried out every two weeks through reading tests. The results of the service showed that the assistance activities to eradicate illiteracy in children were in accordance with what was planned and in accordance with what was implemented, such as: first, children were able to recognize the letters of the alphabet. Second, children were able to read by spelling, third children were able to read fluently. This service activity is very useful for improving the quality of the young generation to come. The results of the service showed that as many as 25 children could read less fluently (spelled), 36 children read fluently and 15 children read not yet fluently.
